Which GPU Should I Buy?

A practical buying framework based on resolution, budget, and the games you actually play.

Choosing a GPU starts with three constraints: display resolution, target frame rate, and budget. Everything else is secondary.

At 1080p, modern midrange cards like the RTX 5060 / RX 9060 XT deliver high refresh rates in most titles. At 1440p, step up to RTX 5070 or RX 9070-class hardware. For native 4K, look at RTX 5080 / 5090 or RX 7900 XTX / 9070 XT with upscaling.

Leave 15–20% of your PC budget for the GPU if you are building from scratch — more if you already own a capable CPU and monitor.

Always compare street price, not just MSRP. Partner cards with better coolers can be quieter and more efficient without a large premium.
